Become a Member
If your surgery would like to become a member of CALMS, please download the required forms available here. Membership is open to registered General Practitioners who operate a surgery in the ACT.
CALMS membership currently represents more than 85% of Canberra General Practices.
Membership of CALMS is currently free.
As a member of CALMS, members agree to participate in the second on call roster. This roster underpins CALMS clinical operations 365 days a year. Whilst CALMS has a group of dedicated Locums who work the vast majority of shifts, we have our second on call (or “back up roster”) in place in case a locum falls ill or becomes unavailable for a shift at short notice.
CALMS members are asked to provide their doctors’ contact details afterhours, in order that the service can contact them for any clinically urgent matters out of hours (when CALMS operates).
CALMS members are also asked to provide the number of doctors working in their practice and numbers of sessions worked by those doctors, so that each member practice is given an appropriate weighting when allocating second on call roster shifts.
CALMS members will also need to provide registration and insurance details for all doctors working in their practice.
